Setup Zoom Pre-bootcamp (browser & app view)

Setup the bootcamp meeting on Zoom

  1. Log into Zoom using Simon’s credentials and head to the ‘My Meetings’ tab and select ‘Schedule a New Meeting.
  2. Fill in the respective fields. Take note of the following settings:
    1. that bootcamp days are set as ‘Recurring meetings’ (to enable attendees to jump in and out of the meeting repeatedly throughout the day);
    2. frequency of ‘Recurrence’ should be set to ‘No Fixed Time’; and
    3. ‘Video’ should be enabled for both host(s) and participants.

  1. Further  along the settings:
    1. Audio is set to ‘Both’,
    2. Meeting password is set to ‘DCBootcamp’,
    3. Mute participants upon entry is ‘On’,
    4. Record meeting automatically is set to ‘On the local computer’
    5. Hit ‘Save’.  
  2. Once the bootcamp meeting is saved, take note of the Join URL which will be emailed to the virtual attendees of the bootcamp, along with the meeting password ‘DCBootcamp’. 

Double Check ‘Meeting Settings’ prior to launching Zoom at the bootcamp

  1. Log into Zoom using Simon’s credentials and head to the ‘Meeting Setting’ tab. 
  2. Take note of the following settings:
    1. In Meeting (Basic) – only the following should be turned ON
      1. Chat
      2. Private chat
      3. Allow host to put attendee on hold
      4. Feedback to Zoom
      5. Annotation
    2. In Meeting (Advanced) – only the following should be turned ON
      1. Breakout room
      2. File transfer
      3. Virtual background
    3. Recording – the following should be turned ON
      1. Cloud recording (optional as back up)
        1. Record the active speaker view
        2. Record an audio only file
        3. Save chat text from meeting
      2. Local recording
    4. Email notification – the following should be turned ON
      1. When attendees join meeting before host
      2. When a meeting is canceled
      3. When an alternate host is set or removed from a meeting

Setup the bootcamp audio & camera settings on Zoom (app view from Simon’s laptop)

  1. Launch the zoom app & login with Simon’s credentials.
  2. Click the gear icon on the upper right hand corner (next to ‘Settings’) of the GUI.
  3. Click on the Audio and Video tabs to make respective microphone and camera input selections based on what it reads from Simon’s system.
